Considering that the entire state of Maryland was under a winter storm warning on Wednesday, there’s a good chance you didn’t make it into work yesterday.
But does that mean your marketing wasn’t hard at work?
In 2015, Target Marketing magazine reported that snow days actually improve e-commerce, particularly for those in the financial services, auto, and home improvement fields.
That same year, however, Time reported a different perspective. In his article, “The Curious Ways Brutal Snowstorms Affect How We Shop,” Brad Tuttle said that the winter storm that hit the Northeast the month before resulted in a $35 million decrease in online sales, “largely because people were home rather than at work,” and people tend to shop from their work desktop instead of from home.
How did your business do? Was it affected by the weather?
Whether yesterday created new opportunities for you or simply made you aware of new opportunities you can anticipate and prepare for before the next storm, we hope you stayed safe, relaxed, and enjoyed--at least a little--the temporary reprieve.
